About testing methodology of "in the cloud" technology

News

As more and more AV vendors are developing "in the cloud" technology to improve AV products' detection ability, we add an addtional rule to our testing methodology of on demand testing.

That is, if an antivirus product had the module containing "in the cloud" techonology, we test it twice: first, we test it when the network connection is cut off and later we test it while the network connection is on(The related "in the cloud" function will also be turned on). The auto-update function is power off.

Here the "in the cloud" technology means Internet authentication, cloud analysis, etc. And both the result with or without "in the cloud" technology will be shown in the final testing report.

Multi Command-Line Scanner 1.5 developed for malware analysis

Software

A new tool called Multi Command-Line Scanner had been developed for malware analysis. The current version of Multi Command-Line Scanner is V 1.5. This tool will be used to better identify the approximate time when the malware come out and detected by some AV vendors.

Currently, there are 20 different antivirus engine used for malware scanning.
